19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.
It is his maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after that period of the previous year.
The win also means the Russian has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.
His defensive strategy and frequent reactions on court had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced service.
Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the last five games to take the lead.
Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to create a third set.
Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
